About Our School
Welcome to the Oriental Wellness web site. This site will provide information on the Japanese approach to health and well being through the Danzan Ryu, “Sandalwood Mountain System”(referring to the Hawaii Island System). This system includes the study of ‘Jujutsu’ as well as ‘Seifukujutsu’. Jujutsu means “yielding way” a term used to identify a wide range of hand to hand techniques as well as punching and kicking, and weapons arts developed and used for combat purposes. Jujutsu cannot be a sport or approached as a game. The “ultimate” trophy for practicing jujutsu is “to Survive”.
Seifukujutsu, the adjustment and restoration art which is a compilation of Nihon Kaifuku Anma (Japanese Restoration Therapy), Kampo (herbology), Sekotsu (bonesetting), Cupping, Mugosa (moxibustion), Mizu Kaifuku (hydro-therapy) Nobi Karada (sotai) (body movement), Shoni Shin (scraping/sanding the body), Kappo/Katsu (restore/resusitate), Ibuki/Kikou (Retaining youth/Chi Gung-cultivating energy), acupressure applications (shiatsu/jinshin jutsu/etc., the 52 Seifukujutsu Protocols taught by Master Henry Seishiro Okazaki for specific maladies, as well as additional seifukujutsu techniques for any other malady you might have to address. Most, if not all of the techniques, systems and methodologies you will encounter throughout the world have their roots in Oriental Medicine and the modern protocols; protraction/retraction, strain/counter strain, sports massage, deep tissue massage, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nutritional therapy, homeopothy, naturopathic, chiropractic, etc. are all found within the 1600 year old ‘Seifukujutsu’
We will show pictorially, a variety of different techniques from Jujutsu, Seifukujutsu and weapons techniques using fans and hanbos. If you are interested in the actual handmade weapons used in these techniques you can purchase them on this site.
We offer for sale, books and videos for those of you who want to increase your knowledge beyond what we can provide on this site. We will also list, on our Affiliations page, the names of other Martial Artists and Martial Arts Schools who we feel can help you learn more about these Arts.
Feel free to to ask questions and make comments about the information you read here. Our Questions and Comments page is set up for this.
